Why we love Max Factor

There are several cosmetic brands out there that are positively killing it with their new and inventive formulas and their creative trend-setting takes on ‘beauty’.

But there’s one beauty brand that deserves our unwavering attention. A brand that arose from the clever brain of the man who coined the term ‘make-up’ in the first place.

Maksymilian Faktorowicz – otherwise known as the man behind Max Factor.

Responsible for creating the signature looks of famous icons such as Ava Gardner, Jean Harlow and Marlene Dietrich, Max Factor believed that glamour is not inherited, it is created.

He believed that all women deserved a glam look and so he went on to create his own range of cosmetics for the public to enjoy. In 1916, he sold his own eyeshadow and eyebrow pencils, which made them the first cosmetics to be available outside the film industry. 

Although the brand has come forth in leaps and bounds over the years with a plethora of different makeup products to choose from, Max Factor has held onto a few original products that have stood the test of time.

In an industry that is constantly changing, it’s rare to have a product stay with the company from the very beginning. That just proves that Max’s products must have truly had the X Factor.
