Foundation brushes generally have wide, flat heads with flexible bristles and tapered edges which makes them perfect for applying and blending liquid and cream formulas.

Some foundation brushes like the Real Techniques Foundation Brush are angled to really get into hard to reach areas and crevices such as in the curves of the nose bridge.

To apply, start by either dotting the foundation sparingly on the face or pumping a small amount of product onto the back of your hand to warm it then applying it to the face. Blend the foundation using downward strokes to flatten fine hairs for a smooth and natural application. Make sure to blend foundation into the hairline and down your neck to evenly blend colour and avoid harsh lines.

“Conceal, don’t feel, don’t let them know …”

Most concealer brushes like the Revlon Concealer Brush have small, narrow, flat brush heads for accurate and precise product application.

To apply, dot concealer on any areas you’d like to cover, then blend it out to remove harsh lines.

Powder brushes (i.e. The Real Techniques Powder Brush) are usually large and dome-shaped in design with tapered ends. Their size and shape ensures that the right amount of product is being evenly blended and distributed.

To use, swirl brush into loose or pressed powder, making sure to tap off the excess product before sweeping onto the face in circular motions.

Rounded, compact blush brushes like the Revlon Blush Brush accurately follow the cheek’s contour and buff blush smoothly and effortlessly for gorgeously and naturally radiant, flushed cheeks.

To apply, smile to easily locate the apples of the cheeks and using short strokes and a light hand, dust the powder out from the apples of the cheeks across the cheekbone.

Eye-catching Eyeshadow

There are a multitude of different eyeshadow brushes for different aspects of shadow application. The flat aspect makes this brush great for packing colour onto the lid and the small, tapered, dome edge ensures seamless blending and deep crease definition.

To apply, pack colour onto the lid with the flat side of the brush and soften any harsh lines with the edge. Apply darker colours in the crease and the outer edge, blending accordingly to darken and deepen the look as desired.
