REVEALED! HOW TO DO ANY EYE MAKEUP LOOK

There are hundreds of different makeup looks with the various colours and finishes available on the market. It almost seems impossible to learn how master them all. Is it possible?

In theory, yes.

Most eye makeup looks set out to achieve a blended gradient that follows a specific structure. This structure is very easy to learn and can be applied to almost all eye makeup looks.

Experienced eye shadow connoisseurs will more than likely already know how this structure works, but for those of you who haven’t yet mastered the basics and want to get maximum use out of your eye shadow palettes, just keep on reading!

When a palette contains both matte and shimmery pigments, it’s presumed that the shimmers are used on the lid, inner corner and brow bone as highlight. For the sake of this tutorial, we will be referring to an all-matte shadow palette to make things as easy-peezy-lemon-squeezy as possible.

Our example palette for today is the BYS On The Go Matte Eyeshadow Palette – the simplest, most conveniently sized palette with all the best, basic shades for any natural or smokey look.

The basic eye makeup look tends to keep to the following structure:

1. Take a shade that’s 1-2 colours darker than your natural skin tone on a fluffy blending brush and apply that along the crease in circular motions. This acts as a transition between dark and light and makes your shadows appear more blended and less harsh.

2. With that same brush, take a slightly darker shade and further deepen the crease with a windshield wiper motion until you reach your desired level of intensity.

3. With a flat eyeshadow brush, take a lighter colour and pack that on the lid. The lid colour is usually a shimmery shade but considering we’re using a matte palette, you would want to use a colour that’s light and differs from the main colour scheme such as Fusion or Spirit.

4. Using a smaller tapered eyeshadow brush, take a darker colour than the ones previously used and apply that on the outer-V, blending generously and re-applying until you reach the intensity level you want.

5. Apply that same colour to your lower lash line with an angled liner brush and carefully blend out with a lighter colour.

6. With a small eye shadow brush, take the lightest colour in your palette and apply that to your inner corner and along the brow bone.

So, in applying these steps to the BYS On The Go Matte Eyeshadow Palette, the order of application for myself would be as follows:

Now that you know the basic eye makeup structure, you can play around with heaps of different looks!
