What is Rosacea and how to treat it
09.02.2023
Even though rosacea is a common skin condition, that doesn’t change the fact that it is annoying and can be quite uncomfortable.
Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that can cause flushed cheeks, visible blood vessels and/or pus-filled bumps. It can go through different stages where it might be calm one day then flare up the next.
Unfortunately, little is known about the cause of rosacea but it is said that certain things may cause flare ups such as alcoholic beverages, hot drinks such as tea and coffee, spicy food, excessive sun exposure, overheating, stress and anxiety.
The symptoms of rosacea may be treated most effectively with the help of prescribed creams and gels, antibiotics and laser therapy.
Potential skincare options for treating rosacea
Although rosacea cannot be cured with a fancy moisturiser or day cream, there are some skincare product formulas that can be beneficial in calming the skin and reducing redness.
Please note: It is always best to consult a GP or dermatologist first as everybody’s skin is different and there may be other ingredients that could trigger you. Always conduct a patch test prior to using any new product.
